It therefore seams unnecessary to go too deep into his biography - it has been printed many times and there are endless of interviews in various magazines but, just some milestones: - Born in March, 1941 in Germany. - Early interest was painting and is still interested in the art in connection with his record sleeve/CD booklet design. - Self-taught on clarinet and saxophone he began playing swing/bebop. - Moved to modern jazz in 1962/1963. - First trio with Peter Kowald and Sven-Åke Johansson in 1965/1966. - Started his own record company BRÖ and made his first recordings in 1967 (For Adolphe Sax) and in 1968 (Maschine Gun). - He was one the founders of the famous label FMP which started to make records in 1969. - Trio with Fred Van Hove and Han Bennink up to mid 70s. - Trio with Harry Miller and Louis Moholo from 1979 to 1981. - Quartet Last Exit with Bill Laswell, Sonny Sharock and Ronald Shannon Jackson. - Quartet Die Like A Dog with Toshinori Kondo, William Parker and Hamid Drake. - The Chicago Tentet Peter Brötzmann has been playing and recording free jazz and improvised music with associates and one-off combinations that include just about all the major figures in this genre like: Derek Bailey, Cecil Taylor, Evan Parker, Misha Mengelberg, Anthony Braxton, Andrew Cyrille, Mats Gustafsson, Albert Mangelsdorf, Don Cherry, Steve Lacy, Manfred Schoof, Alex von Schlippenbach and many more. In Scandinavia, Peter Brötzmann has played many times with the Danish bass player Peter Friis Nielsen and the Swedish drummer Peeter Uuskyla.
